In a small home, apartment or office, a machine's size can matter as much as its walking specifications. This guide compares measurable factors: storage dimensions, folding design, machine height, machine weight and walking area, all taken from manufacturer specifications.
Measure the spot where you'll use and store it before you buy.

- Unfolded dimensions
- 56.1 × 22 × 4.1 in
- Folded dimensions
- 31.8 × 22 × 5.4 in
- Machine weight
- 51 lb
- Walking area
- 47.6 × 15.7 in
- Max user weight
- 242 lb

- 1–4 mph
- Folding mechanism
- Folding deck: the deck folds in half, cutting length from 56.1 in to 31.8 in; height rises from 4.1 in to 5.4 in
- Wheels
- Yes (transport wheels)
- Storage (per manufacturer)
- WalkingPad says to fold it in half and slide it under a bed or sofa. Upright storage is not described.
Verdict: The Z1 is the lightest machine here and folds to the shortest length of the WalkingPad folding-deck models.
Why it works for limited space: At 51 lb it's the lightest pick, it's only 4.1 in tall when unfolded, and it folds to 31.8 in long for flat storage.
What to consider: At 22 in it's wider than the C2, and folded it's 5.4 in tall, so check your under-bed clearance against that figure.
Pros
- Lightest pick (51 lb)
- Lowest unfolded height (4.1 in)
- Folds to 31.8 in long
- Transport wheels
Cons
- 22 in wide
- Walking speeds only (4 mph)
- Upright storage not described
Narrowest Folding Deck
WalkingPad C2
- Unfolded dimensions
- 56.9 × 20.4 × 4.9 in
- Folded dimensions
- 32.5 × 20.4 × 5.4 in
- Machine weight
- 55 lb
- Walking area
- 47.2 × 15.7 in
- Max user weight
- 220 lb
- Speed
- 1–4 mph

- Folding deck: the deck folds in half, cutting length from 56.9 in to 32.5 in; width stays 20.4 in
- Wheels
- Yes (built-in wheels)
- Storage (per manufacturer)
- WalkingPad says it stores under a bed or sofa. Upright storage is not described.
Verdict: The C2 suits tight spaces where width matters most: at 20.4 in it's the narrowest pick.
Why it works for limited space: It folds in half to 32.5 × 20.4 in, WalkingPad describes storing it under a bed or sofa, and it has FootSense speed control.
What to consider: It's 4 lb heavier than the Z1 and has a slightly lower 220 lb capacity. Folded height is 5.4 in.
Pros
- Narrowest pick (20.4 in)
- Folds in half to 32.5 in long
- Built-in wheels
- FootSense, remote and app
Cons
- 220 lb capacity
- Walking speeds only (4 mph)
- Upright storage not described

WalkingPad P1
- Unfolded dimensions
- 56.5 × 21.5 × 5 in
- Folded dimensions
- 32.5 × 21.5 × 5 in
- Machine weight
- 62 lb
- Walking area
- 47 × 16.5 in
- Max user weight
- 220 lb
- Speed
- 0.3–3.75 mph
- Folding mechanism
- Folding deck: folds 180° in half, cutting length from 56.5 in to 32.5 in; height stays 5 in
- Wheels
- Yes (transport wheels)
- Storage (per manufacturer)
- WalkingPad describes fitting it under a sofa, bed or desk. Upright storage is not described.
Verdict: The P1 has the lowest published folded height here (5 in) and a wider 16.5 in walking area.
Why it works for limited space: Its height doesn't change when folded, which helps under low furniture, and its belt is wider than the C2's and Z1's.
What to consider: At 62 lb it's heavier than the C2 and Z1, it has no screen, and WalkingPad's page shows both 3.7 and 3.75 mph for top speed.
Pros
- Lowest folded height (5 in)
- Wider 16.5 in walking area
- Low 0.3 mph starting speed
- Transport wheels
Cons
- 62 lb
- No display
- Upright storage not described
Best Upright-Storage Option
WalkingPad X21
- Unfolded dimensions
- 55.8 × 27.9 × 41.4 in
- Folded dimensions
- 39.6 × 27.9 × 8.8 in
- Machine weight
- 81 lb (spec table; an FAQ on the same page says 84 lb)
- Walking area
- 47.6 × 18.1 in
- Max user weight
- 240 lb
- Speed
- 1–7.5 mph
- Folding mechanism
- Double fold: WalkingPad says it folds "in two simple moves". Height drops from 41.4 in to 8.8 in and length from 55.8 in to 39.6 in, so both the upright frame and the deck fold; WalkingPad doesn't break down each step
- Wheels
- Yes (built-in transport wheels and a handrail for moving it)
- Storage (per manufacturer)
- WalkingPad says it can be placed flat (including under a bed) or vertically against a wall.
Verdict: The X21 is the only pick whose maker explicitly allows upright storage, and the only one reaching running speeds.
Why it works for limited space: It folds from a 41.4 in tall treadmill to an 8.8 in tall package that WalkingPad says can stand against a wall, and it has the widest belt here (18.1 in).
What to consider: It's the heaviest (81 lb) and widest (27.9 in) pick and the tallest folded (8.8 in). Wheels help, but it isn't light to move.
Pros
- Upright storage allowed by WalkingPad
- Up to 7.5 mph
- Widest walking area (18.1 in)
- Wheels and handrail
Cons
- Heaviest pick (81 lb)
- Widest pick (27.9 in)
- Tallest folded height (8.8 in)
Smallest Folded Floor Footprint
Redliro JK14F
- Unfolded dimensions
- 46.8 × 22.6 × 44.1 in
- Folded dimensions
- 21.7 × 22.8 × 47.1 in
- Machine weight
- Not listed
- Walking area
- 39.3 × 14.8 in tread deck
- Max user weight
- 300 lb
- Speed
- 0.5–5.5 mph
- Folding mechanism
- Folding frame: the deck folds up, so the folded size (21.7 × 22.8 in on the floor, 47.1 in tall) is taller than the machine in use
- Wheels
- Yes
- Storage (per manufacturer)
- Redliro publishes the folded size but no storage instructions. It isn't an under-furniture machine.
Verdict: The JK14F suits rooms where floor area matters more than height, and buyers who want long handrails.
Why it works for limited space: Folded, it covers 21.7 × 22.8 in of floor, the smallest folded floor footprint here, and it's the shortest machine in use (46.8 in long).
What to consider: Folded it's 47.1 in tall, so it won't go under furniture. Machine weight isn't listed and the 14.8 in deck is the narrowest belt here.
Pros
- Smallest folded floor area here
- Shortest in-use length (46.8 in)
- Long handrails with buttons
- 300 lb capacity
Cons
- Machine weight not listed
- Narrowest belt (14.8 in)
- No published storage instructions
How Much Space Does a Walking Pad Need?
- Operating footprint: the whole machine's length and width while you walk.
- Walking area: the belt you walk on. It's always smaller than the machine.
- Storage footprint: the size once folded or put away.
Plan floor space with the overall dimensions, not the belt size. The C2's walking area is 47.2 × 15.7 in, but the machine is 56.9 × 20.4 in.
Measure Your Space Before Buying
- Measure the available floor length.
- Measure the available width.
- If you'll store it under furniture, measure the clearance height.
- Compare those numbers with the manufacturer's full machine dimensions.
- Check the folded dimensions separately.
- Check the manufacturer allows the storage position you plan to use.
An exact fit isn't automatically enough: leave room to get on and off and follow the clearance guidance in the manual.
Best Walking Pads for Under-Bed Storage
WalkingPad describes storing the P1 (5 in folded), C2 (5.4 in), Z1 (5.4 in) and X21 (8.8 in) flat under a bed or sofa. Measure the clearance under your bed and compare it with the machine's published folded height. The Redliro JK14F folds upright to 47.1 in tall, so it isn't an under-bed option.
Walking Pads for Apartments
For an apartment, think about floor footprint while walking, where it will live afterwards, and whether you can move it there. The three WalkingPad folding-deck pads fold to about 32 in long for flat storage; the X21 can stand against a wall; the JK14F takes the least floor when folded but stands tall. All five have wheels, but weights differ by up to 30 lb. We don't rate machines for noise or how they affect neighbours.
Walking Pads for Small Home Offices
Under a standing desk, a low, handle-free pad is usually easiest: the Z1 (4.1 in unfolded), C2 (4.9 in) and P1 (5 in) all fold away after work and have wheels. The X21 and JK14F have upright frames, so they aren't under-desk pads. See our best under-desk walking pads.
Foldable vs Non-Foldable Walking Pads for Small Spaces
Folding can cut length a lot: the Z1 goes from 56.1 in to 31.8 in. But folding often adds height (Z1: 4.1 in to 5.4 in), and a thin non-folding pad can sometimes slide under furniture more easily if you have the floor length. The P1 is the exception here, staying 5 in tall either way. Folding isn't automatically better; compare it with where the machine will go.
Don't Ignore Machine Weight
Compact doesn't mean light. Published weights: Z1 51 lb, C2 55 lb, P1 62 lb, X21 81 lb (its spec table; an FAQ on the same page says 84 lb). Redliro doesn't list the JK14F's weight. Wheels help, but don't make a heavy machine easy to lift or turn upright.
Compact Size vs Walking Area
A smaller machine can mean a smaller belt, though not always. The JK14F is the shortest machine here and has the smallest belt (39.3 × 14.8 in); the P1 is no bigger than the C2 overall yet has a wider 16.5 in belt; the X21 has the largest (47.6 × 18.1 in). We don't set a minimum walking area; compare belts with your own stride.
Compact Walking Pads With Handles
- Redliro JK14F: fixed long handrails; the deck folds up.
- WalkingPad X21: upright frame with a handrail; the whole machine double-folds.
The C2, Z1 and P1 have no handle. More options in our walking pads with handles guide.
How We Chose These Walking Pads
We compared measurable space-related features: overall and folded dimensions, folding mechanism, machine height and weight, wheels, walking area and the manufacturer's storage instructions, all re-checked on manufacturer websites in October 2026. A "compact" or "space-saving" label wasn't enough on its own. We left out the WalkingPad A1 Pro (same dimensions as the P1, with both 230 lb and 300 lb versions listed) and the UREVO Foldi 3S (87.5 lb and 51.6 × 25.6 × 6.5 in folded, larger and heavier than these picks).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best walking pad for a small space?
It depends on your space. For under-bed storage, compare folded heights (P1 5 in; C2 and Z1 5.4 in). For the narrowest machine, the C2 (20.4 in). For the lightest, the Z1 (51 lb). For upright storage, the X21 is the only pick whose maker allows it. For the smallest folded floor area, the Redliro JK14F.
What is the smallest walking pad?
"Smallest" can mean shortest, narrowest, thinnest or smallest when folded. Among these picks: shortest folded length among the flat-storing pads — Z1 (31.8 in); narrowest — C2 (20.4 in); lowest folded height — P1 (5 in); smallest folded floor area — Redliro JK14F (21.7 × 22.8 in, but 47.1 in tall). We compared only these five models.
Can you use a walking pad in a small apartment?
Many people do. Check the machine's full dimensions against your floor, where you'll store it, how heavy it is to move, and the manufacturer's operating instructions. We don't make claims about noise or neighbours.
Can a walking pad fit under a bed?
Some are designed for it. WalkingPad describes under-bed storage for the C2, Z1, P1 and X21. Measure the clearance under your bed and compare it with the machine's published folded height: 5 in (P1), 5.4 in (C2, Z1) or 8.8 in (X21).
Can you store a walking pad upright?
Only if the manufacturer permits it. In this guide, WalkingPad says the X21 can be stood vertically against a wall. It doesn't describe upright storage for the C2, Z1 or P1, so we don't recommend it.
Which walking pads fold in half?
The WalkingPad C2, Z1 and P1 have decks that fold in half. The X21 uses a double fold, and the Redliro JK14F's deck folds up.
What is a double-fold treadmill?
One that folds in two moves. WalkingPad's X21 goes from 41.4 in tall and 55.8 in long to 8.8 in tall and 39.6 in long.
Are folding walking pads smaller?
They take up less room in storage, not while in use. The C2 is 56.9 in long when walking and 32.5 in folded.
Are walking pads easy to move?
It depends on machine weight as well as wheels. All five picks have wheels, but weights range from 51 lb (Z1) to 81 lb (X21), and Redliro doesn't list the JK14F's weight.
How much room do you need for a walking pad?
Start with the manufacturer's overall unfolded dimensions, not the belt size, then allow the clearance the manufacturer's manual specifies around the machine.
Are walking pads good for small home offices?
Low, handle-free pads such as the C2, Z1 and P1 can sit under a standing desk and fold away after work. Measure your desk area and check the machine height.
What is the difference between walking area and treadmill dimensions?
Walking area is the belt surface you walk on. Treadmill dimensions are the whole machine. The Z1's walking area is 47.6 × 15.7 in, but the machine is 56.1 × 22 in.
Are compact walking pads good for tall people?
We don't make height-based claims. Belt sizes here range from 39.3 × 14.8 in to 47.6 × 18.1 in; compare them with your own stride and how you plan to walk.
Is a lightweight walking pad better for small spaces?
Weight affects how easy it is to move and lift; dimensions decide how much space it takes. Look at both.
