WalkingPad X21 Review: Is the Double-Fold Treadmill Worth It?

The WalkingPad X21 is very different from compact WalkingPad models such as the C2, Z1 and A1 Pro. Rather than focusing on under-desk walking, it combines an upright treadmill frame, a 1–7.5 mph speed range, an 18.1-inch-wide running area, a double-fold storage system, SpeedDial control and KS Fit connectivity.

Walking Counts evaluated it using current WalkingPad/KingSmith manufacturer information. This is a research-based review and does not imply physical testing. To see every model side by side, compare all WalkingPad models.

Best WalkingPad for Faster Workouts

WalkingPad X21: The Short Answer

The WalkingPad X21 is the faster, more treadmill-like option in WalkingPad's lineup covered by Walking Counts. Its 7.5-mph maximum speed, upright frame and 47.6 × 18.1-inch running area distinguish it sharply from the C2, Z1 and A1 Pro.

Its double-fold design addresses storage differently from the low-profile WalkingPad models: instead of folding into a thin under-desk-style package, the upright treadmill folds into a shorter but substantially thicker unit.

Its main tradeoffs are its 81-lb machine weight, larger folded dimensions and 240-lb capacity on the dedicated technical specification page.

The badge reflects a use case within the WalkingPad lineup, not a claim that it's the best treadmill overall.

Best for: someone who wants WalkingPad's folding concept but needs substantially higher speeds than its walking-focused under-desk models provide.

Not ideal for: someone specifically looking for a low-profile treadmill to use underneath a standing desk.

Is the WalkingPad X21 Weight Limit 240 or 242 lb?

WalkingPad's dedicated X21 technical specification page currently lists 240 lb.

Some other WalkingPad comparison/collection material may show 242 lb.

Walking Counts uses the dedicated X21 technical specification of 240 lb. Verify the current listing and documentation for the exact unit you buy.

Similarly, the spec table lists an 81-lb net weight while one answer in the same page's FAQ says 84 lb. We use the 81-lb technical figure.

WalkingPad X21 Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 7.5-mph maximum speed
  • 47.6 × 18.1-inch running area
  • Double-fold storage design
  • 3.75 HP brushless motor
  • SpeedDial control
  • KS Fit compatibility
  • Upright treadmill configuration
  • Fully assembled

Considerations

  • 81-lb machine weight
  • Larger folded package than C2/Z1/A1 Pro
  • 240-lb capacity on dedicated technical specs
  • Not a conventional under-desk walking pad
  • No handheld remote listed in current specifications
  • Incline is not listed in current technical specifications

How Does the WalkingPad X21 Double-Fold Design Work?

WalkingPad says the X21 folds "in two simple moves" to reduce its storage footprint compared with its fully opened upright configuration.

StateDimensions
Unfolded55.8 × 27.9 × 41.4 in
Folded39.6 × 27.9 × 8.8 in

Folding shortens it from 55.8 in to 39.6 in and brings the height down from 41.4 in to 8.8 in; the 27.9-in width stays the same. That's fundamentally different from the low-profile folding decks of the C2, Z1 and A1 Pro, which fold to about 5–5.4 in thick.

WalkingPad's X21 page says it can be stored flat or stood vertically against a wall or in a corner, and mentions built-in transport wheels. The folded unit is still substantial, so measure your available storage space first — we can't guarantee it fits a particular closet, wall or piece of furniture.

WalkingPad X21 vs a Traditional Walking Pad

Despite the WalkingPad name, the X21 is closer in use to a compact conventional treadmill.

WalkingPad X21

  • Upright frame
  • Up to 7.5 mph
  • 18.1-inch running width
  • 81 lb
  • Double-fold
  • SpeedDial

Typical low-profile walking pad

  • No permanent upright frame
  • Designed primarily for walking
  • Commonly used with standing desks
  • Generally lower maximum speeds
  • Lower profile

Walking pads vary, so not every model fits that description exactly. See walking pad vs treadmill.

How Fast Does the WalkingPad X21 Go?

Minimum 1 mph, maximum 7.5 mph.

ModelMax speed
X217.5 mph
C24 mph
Z14 mph
A1 Pro3.75 mph

The X21's published maximum is substantially higher than WalkingPad's walking-focused models. That's a ceiling, not a recommendation — the right pace depends on the person.

Can You Run on the WalkingPad X21?

WalkingPad specifies a 7.5-mph maximum and describes the X21 as a treadmill that supports walking and jogging, rather than merely an under-desk walking machine. Its 47.6 × 18.1-inch running area is also wider than the walking surfaces of the C2, Z1 and A1 Pro.

Whether its dimensions and speed suit a particular person's running style, stride or training needs depends on that person.

X21 Running Area: 47.6 × 18.1 Inches

ModelRunning/walking area
X2147.6 × 18.1 in
A1 Pro47 × 16.5 in
Z147.6 × 15.7 in
C247.2 × 15.7 in

The X21 has the widest published running area among these four models. Width alone doesn't make it comfortable for every runner, but it's a meaningful difference on paper.

How Heavy Is the WalkingPad X21?

ModelMachine weight
X2181 lb
A1 Pro63 lb
C255 lb
Z151 lb

The X21 is 30 lb heavier than the Z1, 26 lb heavier than the C2 and 18 lb heavier than the A1 Pro. That higher machine weight is one of the practical differences between it and WalkingPad's under-desk-focused models. WalkingPad's page confirms built-in transport wheels for rolling it between rooms.

What Is the WalkingPad X21 SpeedDial?

SpeedDial is the X21's physical speed-control knob. WalkingPad says a quick twist jumps speed by 3 mph, while turning it gently fine-tunes it in 0.1-mph steps.

The current X21 specifications list "Remote Controller: No", so there's no conventional handheld remote. Speed can also be adjusted through the KS Fit app.

Does the WalkingPad X21 Work With KS Fit?

Yes, according to current manufacturer information. WalkingPad's X21 page says it syncs workout data for AI-powered insights and supports Apple Watch heart-rate tracking via the KS Fit app on an iPhone. App features can vary by model and version.

Can You Use the WalkingPad X21 Under a Standing Desk?

The X21 isn't the conventional choice for under-desk walking, because it uses an upright treadmill frame and control structure. If desk walking is your main goal, WalkingPad's C2, Z1 or A1 Pro formats are the more usual fit. See our best under-desk walking pads.

Who Is the WalkingPad X21 Best For?

Potential fit

  • People wanting higher speeds than WalkingPad's under-desk models
  • Users who prefer an upright treadmill format
  • People interested in the double-fold storage concept
  • Users wanting an 18.1-inch running area
  • Users whose needs fit within the manufacturer-stated capacity

Probably not the right format if

  • Under-desk walking is the primary goal
  • You need the current U.S. A1 Pro's 300-lb capacity
  • Minimum machine weight is a priority
  • You specifically want FootSense
  • You need an incline feature not listed for the X21
