The WalkingPad Z1 is a folding under-desk treadmill with a 1–4 mph speed range, a 242-lb manufacturer-stated capacity and a 51-lb machine weight.
Its place in the current WalkingPad lineup is straightforward. It matches the C2's 4-mph maximum while weighing less and carrying a higher published capacity, but it doesn't currently list the C2's FootSense feature. Compared with the A1 Pro, it's considerably lighter but has a lower published capacity and a narrower walking area.
Walking Counts evaluated it using current WalkingPad/KingSmith manufacturer information. This is a research-based review and does not imply physical testing. To see every model side by side, compare all WalkingPad models.
WalkingPad Z1: The Short Answer
The WalkingPad Z1 combines a 1–4 mph walking range, a 47.6 × 15.7-inch walking area, a 242-lb manufacturer-stated capacity and a 51-lb machine weight with WalkingPad's folding design.
Going by current published weights, it's the lightest of the three: Z1 51 lb, C2 55 lb, A1 Pro 63 lb. "Lightweight" here is a comparison — 51 lb is still a real lift for many people.
Its biggest tradeoff against the C2 is that FootSense isn't listed in the current Z1 specifications. Against the A1 Pro, it gives up capacity and walking width in exchange for a much lower machine weight.
Best for: someone who wants a compact folding WalkingPad and prioritizes lower machine weight.
Not ideal for: someone who specifically wants FootSense, needs the A1 Pro's higher current U.S. capacity, wants incline or needs running speeds.

- 1–4 mph walking range
- 47.6-inch-long walking area
- Folding deck
- KS Fit support
- Handheld remote
- Fully assembled

Considerations

- 4-mph maximum keeps it walking-focused
- Lower published capacity than the current U.S. A1 Pro
How Heavy Is the WalkingPad Z1?
| Model | Machine weight |
|---|---|
| Z1 | 51 lb |
| C2 | 55 lb |
| A1 Pro | 63 lb |
| X21 | 81 lb |
Among these WalkingPad models with confirmed current machine weights, the Z1 is the lightest. It's 4 lb lighter than the C2, 12 lb lighter than the A1 Pro and 30 lb lighter than the X21.
That doesn't mean everyone will find it easy to carry — 51 lb is still heavy. WalkingPad's Z1 page says it has transport wheels for rolling it across the floor.
How Small Does the WalkingPad Z1 Fold?
Unfolded: 56.1 × 22 × 4.1 in. Folded: 31.8 × 22 × 5.4 in.
Folding cuts the storage length from 56.1 in to 31.8 in, while the width stays at 22 in.
| Model | Folded size |
|---|---|
| Z1 | 31.8 × 22 × 5.4 in |
| C2 | 32.5 × 20.4 × 5.4 in |
| A1 Pro | 32.5 × 21.5 × 5 in |
The Z1 is slightly shorter when folded, the C2 is narrower, and the A1 Pro is slightly thinner. These are small differences.
WalkingPad suggests sliding the folded Z1 under a bed or sofa, but that depends on your actual clearance, so measure first — we can't guarantee a fit. We don't recommend standing it upright unless WalkingPad's current manual explicitly allows it for the Z1.
Is the WalkingPad Z1 Good for Under a Standing Desk?
These features are relevant to under-desk use:
- No permanent upright treadmill console
- 4.1-inch unfolded height
- 1–4 mph speed range
- Remote control
- KS Fit compatibility
- Folding format
Whether it works with your desk depends on the desk's height adjustment, your height, your footwear, the treadmill's height and your floor space. See our best under-desk walking pads for alternatives.
How Fast Does the WalkingPad Z1 Go?
Minimum 1 mph, maximum 4 mph. The Z1 is intended mainly for walking.
| Model | Max speed |
|---|---|
| Z1 | 4 mph |
| C2 | 4 mph |
| A1 Pro | 3.75 mph |
| X21 | 7.5 mph |
If you want faster workouts, the WalkingPad X21 serves a different use case. See walking pad vs treadmill.
WalkingPad Z1 Walking Area
| Model | Walking area |
|---|---|
| Z1 | 47.6 × 15.7 in |
| C2 | 47.2 × 15.7 in |
| A1 Pro | 47 × 16.5 in |
The Z1 has the longest published walking area of these three, by a small amount. The A1 Pro has the widest. Differences of fractions of an inch won't decide stride comfort on their own, and we can't say any of these suits every height.
WalkingPad Z1 Weight Limit
WalkingPad currently lists 242 lb.
| Model | Max user weight |
|---|---|
| C2 | 220 lb |
| Z1 | 242 lb |
| A1 Pro | 300 lb (current U.S. configuration) |
| X21 | 240 lb (dedicated X21 page) |
That's 22 lb more published capacity than the C2, but well below the current U.S. A1 Pro configuration. WalkingPad's A1 Pro page also lists a 230-lb option, so the A1 Pro review explains which version carries 300 lb.
WalkingPad Z1 Motor
WalkingPad currently lists a 2.25 HP brushless motor.
| Model | Motor |
|---|---|
| Z1 | 2.25 HP brushless |
| C2 | 3 HP brushless |
| A1 Pro | 3.75 HP brushless |
Horsepower alone doesn't tell you whether a machine is quieter, smoother, safer or more durable, so we don't draw those conclusions. The Z1's published top speed stays at 4 mph either way.
How Do You Control the WalkingPad Z1?
WalkingPad lists two speed-adjustment methods for the Z1: the handheld remote and the KS Fit app.
The Z1 page also notes Apple Watch pairing through the KS Fit app on an iPhone. Beyond that, app features can depend on the model and app version, so check the current app listing for anything specific you need.
WalkingPad Z1 vs C2
| Feature | Z1 | C2 |

- Its narrower folded width suits your storage space better
Both list a 4-mph maximum, and there's no overall winner. Read our full WalkingPad C2 review.
WalkingPad Z1 vs A1 Pro

|---|---|---|
| Speed | 1–4 mph | 0.5–3.75 mph |
| Walking Area | 47.6 × 15.7 in | 47 × 16.5 in |

| FootSense | Not listed | Yes |
| KS Fit | Yes | Yes |
| Remote | Yes | Yes |
Choose the Z1 when
- Lower machine weight is the priority
- You prefer its 4-mph maximum
- The 242-lb capacity covers your needs
Choose the A1 Pro when
- Higher manufacturer-stated capacity matters
- You want the wider 16.5-inch walking surface
- FootSense matters
The A1 Pro's 300-lb figure refers to its current U.S. configuration. There's no overall winner. Read our full WalkingPad A1 Pro review.
WalkingPad Z1 vs a Basic Non-Folding Walking Pad
What sets the Z1 apart from a basic flat walking pad:
- Folding deck with published folded dimensions
- KS Fit compatibility
- Handheld remote
- 51-lb published machine weight
- The WalkingPad/KingSmith ecosystem
If you have permanent floor space and only need basic walking, you may not need a folding deck or a connected app.
Is the WalkingPad Z1 a Treadmill?
Technically, yes — it's a compact walking treadmill. But its design and 4-mph maximum set it apart from conventional upright running treadmills.
WalkingPad Z1
- Compact
- No permanent upright console
- 4 mph maximum
- Folding
- Walking-focused
Conventional treadmill (typically)
- Usually has an upright console and handrails
- Typically larger
- Often supports higher speeds
- May offer incline
Not every treadmill has all of those features. See walking pad vs treadmill.
Who Is the WalkingPad Z1 Best For?
Potential fit
- Standing-desk users
- People prioritizing lower machine weight
- Anyone wanting a folding walking pad
- Users wanting remote + app control
- Users whose needs fit within the 242-lb capacity
- Walkers whose pace fits a 4-mph maximum
Probably not the right format if
- You specifically want FootSense
- You need the current U.S. A1 Pro's higher published capacity
- You need automatic incline
- You need running speeds
- You want permanent upright treadmill handrails
